Interested in helping to look after your countryside?

Dry stone walling Bilberry Bumblebee

We aim to coordinate local residents interested in volunteering with conservation projects, land managers and Local and National Authorities. Our aims are to provide a mechanism for communication, training and collaboration between interested parties, promote sustainable transport through car-sharing schemes and the Community Transport in accordance with various environmental policies and encourage ecological awareness and respect for the environment of the North Pennines.

We don't intend to replace existing volunteering bodies, but provide an collaboration service to support them.

Are you already a conservation volunteer?

If so, you can ask the organisation you're registered with to add you on your behalf, or you can register here.

Registering with us allows you to be notified when any conservation tasks in Weardale have been arranged. You don't have to leave your existing volunteering role - this is a way to find out about similar opportunities in your area.

Or are you interested in getting involved?

If you want to become involved in helping our wonderful countryside, or even just get fit, then you are very welcome to join us.

Do you need help with your tasks?

We aim to help landowners and managers find suitably qualified helpers.

How does it work?

  • By joining the us you gain access to all the volunteers in the area. This means
    • a larger skill set
    • a larger task force
    • more efficient transport arrangements
  • Access to our online task and events database
  • Enhanced promotion for you and your work

We can help.

  • by coordinating links between land managers and volunteers
  • by providing qualified stand-in leaders (if required)
  • by arranging transport and organising car-share schemes
  • by offering training and skills support
