Weardale Community Partnership

Weardale Villages

This site is being sponsored by the Weardale Community Partnership to form a first contact point for local residents and businesses within the area of Weardale, Co.Durham.

The site aims to provide a means of informing you of services and events, but don't think it ends there. We want your involvement too. We hope to provide sections which will allow you to submit your events, comments, photos and art work relevant to the Dale.

Weardale Community Transport

Weardale Community Transport (WCT) is a major project of Weardale Community Partnership (WCP). A manager and a part-time paid driver administer it from the Weardale Hub in Stanhope at the Weardale Business Centre. A team of volunteer drivers provide very valuable support.

Two minibuses are available for hire - either with a qualified self-driver; a volunteer or our paid driver. Both buses are equipped to carry wheelchairs.

A one-off membership fee is required and this remains active.

Parties of up to thirteen can be catered for in each bus - fourteen if the driver is part of the party.

Conservation Volunteers

This autumn should see the formation of a new partnership agreement between various conservation bodies and land managers to help coordinate volunteering opportunities in Weardale.

How do I get involved?

If you are interested in conservation and would like to be involved then please register to receive updates of tasks and events. Registering with us doesn't replace any conservation volunteering that you may already be doing, but rather it opens up new opportunities with other conservation organisations in the dale.

This is a new collaborative approach to work with similar-minded people regardless of which organisation might be arranging the activity.

It encourages learning new skills through various training and mentoring schemes.
